Take Flight Work Experience Application Form

This October half-term, TECgirls are working with The Parnall Group to give 10 young women* aged 16–18 the opportunity to take part in an exciting week of aviation engineering work experience.

Throughout the week, participants will take part in mentoring sessions with women working across technology, engineering and creative digital, as well as gaining hands-on experience working on a real Spitfire. It’s a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in exploring a future in engineering, aviation or aerospace.

Take Flight Work Experience Week is part of our wider Reach for the Sky programme, supported by the Civil Aviation Authority and the Department for Transport.

When is it?

Monday 26 - Friday 30 October 2026.

This is a full-time work experience opportunity, with each day running approximately from 8:30am to 4:30pm, including travel time.

How will I get there?

The programme will take place at locations across Cornwall. Free transport will be provided by minibus, leaving from Hall for Cornwall in Truro at approximately 8:30am each morning and returning by around 4:30pm each afternoon.

If you would prefer to arrange your own transport, we can provide directions and details of the different locations.

How are places allocated?

There are only 10 places available, so we encourage you to take your time when completing your application. Places will be allocated based on your application responses, so we’d love to hear about your interests, enthusiasm, curiosity and motivation.

No previous experience is needed. All you need is an interest in engineering, aviation or aerospace and a willingness to get involved and learn.

Please note that we are unable to accept applications from anyone who took part in the 2025 Take Flight Work Experience Week.

If you have any questions about the programme, please feel free to get in touch.

Do let us know if you need any accessibility support when completing this form.

*Please note we believe in the right to self-identify and welcome anyone from under-represented genders, including trans and non-binary students.
