What inspired you to go into engineering?
I was inspired to pursue RAF Survival Equipment Engineering by a desire to protect aircrew and support operations in a direct, practical way. The role combines hands-on engineering with real responsibility, ensuring life-saving equipment are reliable when it matters most.
What do you love about your job?
I enjoy the opportunity to contribute directly to operational effectiveness while maintaining the highest of standards of safety. I particularly enjoy the variety the jobs offers, from supporting operations both within the UK and overseas to working in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
What advice would you give to a young person looking to start a career in your industry?
Embrace the adventure as well as the responsibility. This role offers a unique opportunity to travel the world, experience different environments, and support real operations. Be curious, willing to learn, and dont be afraid of a challenge. Prepare by maintaining fitness, be adaptable and a good willingness to learn. You'll be rewarded with valuable skills in all areas and unforgettable experiences.
