What inspired you to go into engineering?
I loved Physics and thought engineering will allow me to learn more on the topics that I enjoy most and will enable to make a difference.
What do you love about your job?
I love to teach and inspire the next generation of engineers. I also love the freedom to make an impact in areas that I feel very passionate about.
How did you get your job?
I did my PhD at the University of Plymouth. The job was advertised.
What advice would you give to a young person looking to start a career in your industry?
Engineering is very diverse, try and get hands on experience via internships, work experience or similar. Focus on the fundamentals to better understand your strengths e.g. design or software development or data analysis, etc.
What do you think will be the most exciting developments in your industry over the next 5-10 years?
I believe AI will transform engineering and there will be more convergence of different discipline areas.
Why would you encourage more girls to pursue a career like yours?
Engineers play a key role in solving real world challenges, offers a diverse and interesting career paths, and pays well.
