My plans have changed, can I have a refund?Help us make every ticket count. The Festival is now sold out, so if your plans change and you can no longer attend, please email info@tecgirls.co.uk so we can give the ticket to someone on the waiting list. This helps us make sure no one misses out and as many people as possible can attend. Refunds are no longer available.
-
Can I transfer my ticket to someone else?Yes! If you can no longer attend, you're welcome to transfer your ticket to someone else. Just email us at info@tecgirls.co.uk at least 48 hours before the event to arrange this.
-
What if the event is cancelled or rescheduled? If we need to cancel or postpone the festival before the event date due to circumstances beyond our control, we’ll let you know as soon as possible. In that case, you’ll be offered a full refund or a place at a rescheduled event. Your ticket fee is the maximum extent of our liability. However, please note: If the event is cancelled on the day due to an airport-related emergency, such as the activation of the venue’s role as a Survivor Reception Centre, we will be required to end the event immediately, and no refunds will be issued in this circumstance. This is a condition of our use of the Spaceport site and part of its emergency response responsibilities. We hope this won’t happen, but we appreciate your understanding in advance.
-
Is the schedule final, or might it change? We may need to make adjustments to the schedule, activities or layout on the day. We’ll always aim to let you know in advance, but by booking a ticket you accept that changes may be made if needed.

Thank you for helping us keep arrival and parking smooth for everyone!

-
Is this event accessible? We are working hard to ensure this event is accessible to as many people as possible. There will be blue badge parking on the day and we have accessible toilets in every building. There is level or ramp access to all spaces. Please note, there will be loud noises, some flashing lights, and some smoke/steam from some of the activities. We will also have some music playing in the hanger. We are on a working airport so there will also be planes taking off and landing overhead. We are expecting to have 1000 people attend on the day, so it may be very busy at times. We will try to do all we can to support anyone who may find those experiences overwhelming and there will be access to outside spaces and quiet calm zones. If you would like to discuss any additional needs or have any questions or queries about our accessibility, please contact info@tecgirls.co.uk.
-
Is this a girls only event? We get asked this a lot! All of our events and workshops are created to help encourage more girls into technology, engineering and creative industries. This is because these are areas where there are still huge gender gaps. We wish we could be just TECkids, but while only 3% of girls in Cornwall study computing science, only 6% of pilots are female, and less than 11% of engineers are female - we can't make that move just yet. For now we will continue to encourage more girls into these spaces and will do all we can to fix this huge problem. HOWEVER , we welcome EVERYONE to our events. We do not ask for evidence of gender. Boys (and men) are always very welcome and we treat everybody with the same levels of kindness and respect. We will always support any children of any gender who show a keen interest in these topics and our free ticket and lunch offer is not gender specific, it is available to all children.
-
What should we do in case of an emergency?Your safety is our top priority. If you need help at any point during the event, please look for one of our team members in bright pink high-vis jackets, they’re here to assist. We will have on-site medical support if needed. Please keep a close eye on children and young people throughout the day. All under-18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. While this is a relaxed and fun family event, we ask parents and carers to take full responsibility for the young people in their group. There are lots of exciting activities that are even better with your support and supervision - so please join in with your kids. After all, they shouldn’t get to have all the fun! Important emergency notice: As our event is being hosted in a building designated as a Survivor Reception Centre for Newquay Airport, we are required to have an emergency response plan in place. In the unlikely event that there is an emergency at the airport requiring activation of this plan, our team will immediately inform all attendees. If this happens, all guests will be asked to return to their vehicles and leave the site promptly, so that the venue can be made available for emergency incident management. We don’t expect this to occur - but it’s important that all visitors are aware of the procedure in advance. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
-
Can we bring our own food and drink? We’re thrilled to be welcoming fantastic local vendors like Ann’s Pasties, Smoking Longhorn, Glazed and Roasted, RoBo and Ben's Icecream serving up a delicious variety of offerings, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.. While we’d love for you to support these local businesses, you’re very welcome to bring your own picnic to enjoy at the festival. There will be a designated picnic area with a limited number of tables where you can take a break, refuel, and plan your next workshop. Feel free to bring a picnic blanket for extra comfort but please leave chairs at home, as space is limited. To help everyone have a great day, please note: This is an alcohol-free event Spaceport Cornwall is a non-smoking site Drinking water will be available in limited quantities, but we strongly encourage families to bring their own drinks, especially if it's a warm day. We cannot guarantee there will be enough water for everyone throughout the day.
-
Will there be photography and videography?By attending Reach for the Sky, you acknowledge and accept that photography and videography will be taking place throughout the event. Images and recordings captured may be used by TECgirls for promotional and marketing purposes, including on social media, in printed materials, reports, and to promote future events. As this is a large public gathering, we cannot guarantee that individuals won’t appear in group or crowd shots. By registering for a ticket, you gave your consent for TECgirls to use any images or recordings in which you may be visible. If you have any specific concerns about this, please speak to a member of our team on the day. While we can’t promise full exclusion from all footage, we’ll do our best to accommodate reasonable requests wherever possible.
-
What should I bring? We recommend: A water bottle or drink Sun cream and a hat (if it's sunny!) Coats and umbrellas that can withstand strong winds (if it's raining!). All of the planes are outside and not under cover. A picnic or snacks if you prefer to bring your own A picnic blanket - No chairs, please! Your phone or printed ticket Curiosity, creativity, and a sense of adventure!
-
Will there be things to buy?We have a great selection of local food vendors serving food and drinks throughout the event. Please note that TECgirls is not responsible for vendor pricing or payment options. To keep the event accessible to everyone, all activities are free of charge and do not require any additional payment.
-
Will it be loud at the event?Spaceport Cornwall is right next door to Cornwall Airport Newquay, and while that adds to the excitement of our aviation festival, it also means you'll hear aircraft taking off and landing throughout the day. It can get quite loud at times, especially when planes are close to the runway. We encourage everyone to enjoy a bit of plane spotting, it’s all part of the fun! But if you're sensitive to noise, you may want to bring ear defenders or take breaks indoors in our quiet zone when needed.
-
Can I bring a buggy or pushchair?Absolutely! The site is accessible for buggies and pushchairs, though please be aware that some areas may be busy at peak times. If you or your little ones need a moment to recharge, head to our Quiet Zone, a calmer space where you’re welcome to take a break, breastfeed, or express. Breastfeeding is welcome anywhere at the event, but the Quiet Zone offers a little extra privacy if that’s what you prefer. Nappy changing facilities are available on site, just ask a member of the team if you need help finding them.
-
Can I bring my dog?As this is a busy family event which takes place on an active airport site, we kindly ask that no pets are brought along, except for registered assistance dogs. Please do not leave dogs or any other pets in the car while at the festival.
-
Is the event accessible?Yes! In addition to Blue Badge parking for pre-registered vehicles, there will be accessible toilets available on site. If you or a family member need a moment of calm during the day, you're welcome to visit our Quiet Zone and Wellbeing Area - a low-sensory space designed for anyone who may feel overwhelmed. If you need any further assistance, just speak to one of our friendly event team on the day they’ll be happy to help.
-
What percentage of the space is indoors versus outdoors (uncovered)? Most of the event takes place indoors, so there’s plenty of cover! A few activities and the airplanes will be outside, giving you a chance to enjoy some fresh air too.
-
Is there a way to enjoy the event without having to queue for everything? The main areas where you might encounter queues are the VR experience, the food trucks, and a short wait at the entrance when the event first opens. You're very welcome to bring a packed lunch, and there are lots of activities that don’t involve any queuing.
