 Igniting a passion for  Technology
 Engineering  and  Creativity  for
girls across the far South West.

Empowering girls to build the future.

TECgirls creates opportunities for girls aged 8–18 in rural and coastal communities to discover their potential in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). We believe every girl should be able to see herself as a creator, innovator and leader in the industries shaping our future, regardless of where she lives or the opportunities available around her.

Through hands-on clubs, challenge days, work experience and large-scale events, we build skills, confidence and meaningful connections with local employers and role models. Our sustained pathways help girls move from early inspiration to real-world experience, while building a community where girls with an interest in technology, engineering and creativity can thrive.

Since 2021, we have reached thousands of girls across Cornwall, helping to build a more diverse, inclusive and locally rooted workforce for the future.

Across Cornwall less than 4% of girls are choosing to take a computing science GCSE and less than 1% are interested in a career in tech. Engineering is also seeing a huge gender divide with less than 2% of girls interested in being an engineer and less than 5% are choosing Design Technology. In the creative stubject, girls love art, but they aren't taking creative digital courses.

Despite the promotion of STEM subjects, many girls across Cornwall and the South West still think that tech, engineering and creative digital are not “girl things”. This is shocking given the career opportunities within STEM industries in the UK and in Cornwall. Cornwall has a fast-growing tech, engineering and creative digital sector, with well-paid jobs and huge opportunities. We want to ensure that anyone who identifies as female, non-binary or whose gender is under-represented feels they belong in these industries and we want to inspire them to explore all the opportunities available.

NOTE: We accept anyone who identifies with our program and support self-identification of gender.
